Surely the REAL heroes of our time are those who are acting to improved the world? Is David Attenborough or Jane Goodall not as worthy as Al Pacino? Is Bang Ki-Moon not as deserving as Lionel Messi? Aren’t these the role-models we want our children to aspire to be?
As with the Oscars, awarded for best director, best actress, we suggest these main categories:
Celebrating Individual achievement
Recognising NATIONAL progress on the SDGs
Community Challenges
City Change maker
Corporate Champions
Impact Investor of the Year
Philantropist of the Year
The countries who have signed up to the climate agreement and the 193 countries that signed up for those SDGs have no-one calling them out or holding them to account on a global stage.
TTG could provide that global stage and the Transformation awards shine that spotlight.
The most improved Country and City recognition is awarded for who is top of the SDG rankings in designated areas.
The objective of the most improved group is to celebrate progress since the launch or the last Games. Country Rankings need singling out. And by implication it will embarrass countries by their LOW rankings and lack of medals.
This will hopefully make countries like the US, UK, CHINA who are used to dominating medal tables, step up to do better and increase pressure for change by their citizens.
We will invite countries, cities and communities to compete in challenges between the Games.
There are many heroes and heroines behind the scenes who do dedicated work in the shadows, and are never given the spotlight.
We want to help catch dedicated people doing things right and give them more to do it with.
